NWCC WORK GROUP UPDATES |

Wildlife: The Wildlife Workgroup held its bimonthly call on July 21st and the call summary will be sent to the workgroup as soon as it is finished. The authors has revised the Wind Interaction and Bird and Bat Fact Sheet and recommended to the workgroup that it be sent to the NWCC Members for consensus. The planning group for NWCC Wildlife Research Meeting V is making great progress on the agenda and in confirming many of the expert speakers. The purpose of the meeting is to provide participants with update on research, studies, methods and tools to assess wind development bird, bat interactions and habitat impacts on land. The meeting will be either two or three days between November 3-5th, depending on the final meeting agenda. The meeting will most likely take place in the greater Washington, DC area. |

Green Markets and Credit Trading: The consensus REC Tracking System Design Principles and the resource document REC Tracking System Design Guide have been posted to the web and are being printed. Individual members of the workgroup are working on proposals to continue work on green power…stay tuned. |

Economic Development: The resource documents, Economic Development Results Brief and Methodology Brief have been posted to the web and are being printed. NWCC staff is in negotiation with Heather Rhoads-Weaver to provide a briefing on national economic development activities this fall. |

Siting:
The siting workgroup is continuing its work with BBC Research on a set of siting case studies. If you have any questions about the sites selected, the purpose of the study, or the progress, please contact Rachel. |

Transmission:
The transmission workgroup is drafting a set of four case studies on transmission siting. The transmission workgroup will hold 3 workshops, between October 2004 and May 2005, one in each of the Southwest, Western and Midwest regions. The Southwest and Western Workshop planning groups are underway, drafting meeting purposes and agendas. The SPP Workshop is tentatively scheduled for October 26th in Little Rock, Arkansas. |
