Transmission Products Webinar

February 2, 2007

This webcast explored conditional firm and redispatch, two transmission products that, at the time, were under consideration by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in its proposed Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) reform NOPR.

Featured Speakers
Natalie McIntire, Renewable Northwest Project
Don Furman, PPM Energy

Conditional firm transmission service is a way for more generators to use existing transmission lines under long-term contracts. Redispatch is a method of resolving transmission congestion by changing generator output levels to reduce congestion, which may enable additional firm transmission sales. Featured speakers addressed how these transmission products work, when and where they might apply, benefits, and challenges.

The WGA Clean and Diversified Energy Advisory Committee (CDEAC) recommendations call for “implementing a conditional-firm, re-dispatch, and related tariff reform transmission products where feasible and consistent with the policy of an independent system operator or regional transmission organization.” This webinar is part of WGA and NWCC’s work to implement the CDEAC recommendations.
