Membership Information
The National Wind Coordinating Collaborative (NWCC), a U.S.
consensus-based collaborative formed in 1994, identifies issues that
affect the use of wind power, establishes dialogue among key
stakeholders, and catalyze activities to support the development of
environmentally, economically, and politically sustainable commercial
markets for wind power. The NWCC’s strategic approach enables
stakeholder dialogue, encourages and sometimes conducts research
projects; and conducts outreach to broad audiences. NWCC members include
representatives from a broad spectrum of interests. All NWCC business,
including meetings and topic specific workshops, white papers, member
listings, and other wind related events are available on the NWCC web
site, www.nationalwind.org.
Membership: The NWCC offers three categories of membership:
Member, Associate Member, and Interested Party. The options are defined
briefly below and further on the following page so that you can
determine the best fit for you. The NWCC depends on volunteers to
participate in raising issues, providing expertise, and engaging in
dialogue and outreach on what is learned. The NWCC believes these
categories reflect the various levels of contributions individuals like
you make to the NWCC. The membership categories are:
- Member: An individual who represents a sector and is fully
engaged in NWCC business.
- Associate Member: An individual who is interested in a
specific NWCC workgroup or topic, but does not engage in all the
responsibilities of a member.
- Interested Party: An individual who may want to become
involved in a work group for one specific project, workshop or other
activity, but otherwise just wants general information.
Workgroups: Additionally, we want to make certain we keep you
in touch with the right work group(s). We anticipate activity in the
following workgroups: Siting, Transmission, and Wildlife. You can choose
to receive information on just one workgroup or as many as you would
like. If you would like more information on what activities these work
groups will be involved in over the next year, go to the NWCC web site,
www.nationalwind.org.
NWCC Update: The NWCC staff emails a NWCC Update with
workgroup highlights, conference call information, and upcoming events.
The update is sent every other week as a link. You can view previous
updates at
www.nationalwind.org/update.
Transmission and Economic Development Briefings: The NWCC
provides bi-monthly briefings on transmission issues including: market
development, planning, transmission funding, seams issues, and
regional/federal interaction. The bi-annual economic development brief
looks at regional trends, announces new reports and upcoming workshops
and focuses on topics such as tax income, landowner issues, community
wind and job creation. |
