Wildlife
The NWCC Wildlife Workgroup identifies, defines, discusses, and through collaboration addresses wind-wildlife and wind-habitat interaction issues by seeking broad stakeholder involvement on scientific and public policy questions.
On the workgroup’s bi-monthly conference calls, members discuss emerging trends and potential collaborative activities to advance understanding and address concerns about potential impacts to wildlife from wind energy development. Participants also share and learn about priorities, research, and activities of other sectors and organizations.
The workgroup also has convened seven bi-annual Wind and Wildlife Research Meetings where researchers from around the world meet to discuss research on the potential impacts of wind development to wildlife and habitat, as well as methods for mitigating the impacts.
