Seminar covered property values, visual and acoustic impacts, radar interference, and icing
The NWCC has teamed with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to host State of the Art in Wind Siting, a seminar for developers, local and federal permitting officials, and technical siting consultants. On October 20-21, in Washington, DC, attendees will learn about cutting-edge research to better understand and mitigate concerns about wind energy development. Participants heared about:
- Acoustic impacts
- Visual impacts
- Property values
- Icing considerations
- Radar interference
At the Seminar, participants heard from Department of Homeland Security, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Energy about the various agency concerns, as well as the research each is conducting to better understand wind impacts and possible solutions. Speakers from consulting agencies such as Westslope Consulting, Raytheon, and Sensis presented technological developments toward mitigating impacts to radar.
