Utility Sector Report
  • UWIG now has 34 members. New members since the January NWCC meeting include:

    • Tennessee Valley Authority

    • National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

    • Iowa State University

  • The next meeting of the UWIG will be held August 10-12, 1998 in Cheyenne, WY. The meeting will feature a tour of the Foote Creek Rim Project and Platte River Power Authority Project in Medicine Bow, WY on Monday, August 10th. There will also be a tour of the Ponnequin Wind Project in Colorado on Wednesday afternoon, August 12th.

  • The UWIG hopes to sponsor a technical workshop in January 1999 in Palm Springs, CA, subject to available funding. Dates and location for the meeting have not been decided.

  • The UWIG White Paper on the priority research and information needs of utilities, to accelerate the appropriate integration of wind power into utility systems, will be available in July and will be sent to all NWCC members in mid-August.

  • The U*WRAP data collection and analysis protocols will be posted on UWIG’s website in August.
