It was a pleasure to see most of you in Sioux Falls! On a beautiful summer day with 32 mph winds, more than 100 regional stakeholders joined NWCC members in taking a first-hand look at Buffalo Ridge in Minnesota and Iowa, home of the newest U.S. wind energy boom. The Wind Issues Forum participants seemed very pleased with the diversity of representation and quality dialogue, and our business meeting was quite productive.

This is the first of two follow-up packets you will receive to move forward NWCC products and activities before our Fall meeting. Enclosed for your review and feedback please find:

The second packet, to be mailed in September, will include revised versions of the second Green Power Paper, "New Markets for Wind Power: Supplier Response"; the Phase II Transmission Report, "Issues for Wind Generation Under Open Access Transmission Tariffs and Restructured Electric Markets"; and additional info about the Rocky Mountain NWCC meeting to be held October 25-27 in Ft. Collins, CO.
